We are proud to announce that we now have delivered the 2023 emissions report to our customers around the globe. The report summarizes the customers’ emission in terms of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxides. The aim of accounting for these emissions – which all are a direct result of logistic operations – is to raise awareness and work together to reduce them.
While these reports previously have been proactively developed by Hecksher, the demand for this type of reporting is higher than ever. Indeed, a positive trend, where more and more businesses arguably prioritize emissions and sustainability.
It is vital for businesses to track their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions since the data on emissions provide insights into the extent of an organization’s environmental footprint. Through tracking, a company can establish targets and implement measures to reduce emissions further. Moreover, tracking and reporting on emissions will become increasingly important in the future. New EU regulations will impose stricter sustainability reporting requirements, and more companies will need to adhere to specific reporting standards.
To compile the reports, Hecksher uses the EcoTransIT World solution, one of the leading tools in the world for emission calculations withing the logistics sector. EcoTransIT uses a meticulous developed methodology that complies with several GHG reporting standards, including the EU standard EN 16258.
Greenhouse gas emissions have significant global implications, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts to reduce them worldwide. Through increased monitoring and continuous reporting, companies in the global logistics market become more aware of the challenges posed by emissions. Therefore, raising awareness is more critical than ever to develop longer-term sustainable solutions. Consequently, we hope that these emission reports from us at Hecksher will contribute to a more sustainable logistics sector.
