Hecksher is launching a new HVO100 solution, enabling road freight customers to reduce transport-related emissions through a renewable fuel switch. The new solution allows customers to choose HVO100 for selected road freight flows through a Book & Claim approach, without requiring changes to their existing transport setup.
HVO100 is a renewable alternative to fossil diesel. Hecksher’s solution is based on a Book & Claim model and functions as an insetting solution, meaning that HVO100 replaces fossil diesel within the road transport system while the resulting emissions reduction is allocated to the customer’s selected transports. The fuel may therefore be used in a different truck from the one carrying the customer’s goods. The current HVO100 volume supplied under the solution offers approximately 90% lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared with fossil diesel.
“Road transport is a key part of our customers’ logistics, and we are proud to introduce HVO100 as a practical option to address emissions in this area. With this addition, we now offer renewable fuel solutions across all our transport modes: sea, air and road,” says Niklas Olsson, CEO at Hecksher.
The launch complements Hecksher’s existing Maritime Biofuel Insets for ocean freight and SAF certificates for air freight. Together, these solutions give customers more options to address emissions across their transport flows.
Customers choose which road freight transport and time period they want the HVO100 solution to cover, and to what extent. The resulting emissions reduction is calculated and allocated to the selected transport, with supporting documentation issued with all relevant technical data, including the reduced amount of CO₂e.
“Our ambition is to make renewable fuel alternatives a practical part of everyday logistics operations. By adding HVO100 to our portfolio, we are giving customers another option to reduce transport-related emissions through solutions that are transparent and based on real fuel use,” says Patrik Westraeus, Head of Sustainability at Hecksher and Greencarrier.
The HVO100 offering is provided in collaboration with Energifabriken, a Swedish supplier of renewable fuels, through its CarbonGo solution.
“Many companies want to reduce transport-related emissions but do not always have the opportunity to influence fuel choices in individual transport operations. Insetting provides a practical way to contribute to the transition to renewable fuels, and we are happy to support Hecksher in making this solution available to more transport buyers,” says Robin Lindsjö, CarbonGo Specialist at Energifabriken.

About HVO100
HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is a renewable fuel that can be used as an alternative to fossil diesel. It is produced from renewable raw materials such as waste oils, residues and other sustainable feedstocks.
How does it work?
In Hecksher’s solution, HVO100 is supplied to the road transport system and replaces fossil diesel through a Book & Claim model. The renewable fuel does not need to be physically used in the vehicle transporting a specific customer’s goods. Instead, the corresponding emissions reduction is allocated to selected transport flows and documented accordingly.
Disclaimer: The availability and environmental performance of HVO100 depend on feedstock origin, production pathway and applicable sustainability criteria. Customers are responsible for determining how allocated emissions reductions may be used and reported within their own reporting frameworks and sustainability disclosures.
